White noise does not automatically make sleep better. Its possible role is narrower: creating a steady background that partly masks an unpredictable sound, such as traffic or neighbours. If your room is already quiet, it may add nothing — and a sound that bothers you does not need to stay on.

06FAQ
01Is white noise better than pink or brown noise? No colour has shown clear superiority for everyone. Choose the least intrusive sound for you, or use none.
02Should it play all night? Not necessarily. A timer lets you test its effect on falling asleep without requiring continuous playback. If you prefer all-night use, keep it quiet and place it away from the bed.
03Is it a treatment for insomnia? No. White noise is a possible comfort tool, not a treatment for insomnia; persistent or unusual sleep difficulties deserve professional advice.
